Swimming Northern Territory holds 4 Major Championships each year.
The Championships are:
- NT Swimming Championships
- NT Short Course Championships
- NT Open Water Championships Series

Perpetual Trophies and Age Group Winners
- SNT LC Swimming Championship
- Jim Gayton Trophy – Awarded to the female athlete who records the fastest time in a heat or final of the women’s 50m freestyle
- Paul Kinter Trophy - Awarded to the male athlete who records the fastest time in a heat or final of the men’s 50m freestyle.
- Champion Male/Female - Awarded to the male and female athlete gaining most points in finals and timed finals.
- Champion Distance Male/Female - Awarded to the female athlete who achieved the strongest performance, as measured by the Hy-Tek Single Year Points System, in any one of the following events: the 400m, 800m, 1500m freestyle, 400 IM or a 200 form stroke.
- Judith Green Trophy - Awarded to the athlete gaining the most points in Multi Class events.
- Swimmer of the Meet - Awarded to the Northern Territory athlete with the most outstanding performance in one or more events, as measured by the Hy-Tek Single Year Points System.
- Keith Gabel Trophy - Awarded to the NT club whose athletes gain the most points in finals and timed finals of breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly events at these Championships.
- Relay Trophy - Awarded to the Club gaining most points in the Championships relay events.
- NT Open and Age Champion Club Trophy – Awarded to the Club gaining most points during the Open & Age Championships
- Trophies are awarded to the Male and Female Swimmers who achieve the most points in their 7 best events throughout the Championships for their Age Group.
- Age groups awarded are 9yr, 10yr, 11yr, 12yr, 13yr, 14yr, 15yr, 16yr, 17 yr & Over.
- SNT Short Course Championship
- Swimmer of the Meet Trophy - Awarded to the Northern Territory athlete with the most outstanding performances in five events, as measured by the combined total of the Hy-Tek single year Points System.
- Junior Champion Male/Female Trophy – Awarded to the Northern Territory male and female swimmer gaining the most points, in their best 7 events, across all 9-12 years swimming events not including relays.
- Champion Male/Female Trophy – Awarded to the Northern Territory male and female swimmer gaining the most points, in their best 7 events, across all 13 & Over events not including relays.
- Country Swimming Championships
- Swimmer of the Meet Trophy - Awarded to the athlete with the most outstanding performances in five events, as measured by the combined total of the Hy-Tek single year Points System.
- Age Group Champion Trophy Male/Female - Awarded to male and female swimmer gaining the most points, in their best 7 events, across all 11 & Over events not including relays. Age Groups are - 11-12yrs, 13yrs, 14yrs, 15yrs, 16yrs and 17& Over.
- Age Group Champion Trophy Male/Female Multiclass - Awarded to male and female swimmer gaining the most points, in their best 7 events, across all 11 & Over events not including relays. Age Groups are 11-13yrs, 14-15 yrs and 16 & Over.
- SNT Open Water Championship
- Distance 2.5 Km Champion Male/Female - 11yrs and Over
- Distance 5.0 Km Champion Male/Female - 12yrs and Over
- Distance 10.0 Km Champion Male/Female - 13 yrs and Over

The Swimming Northern Territory 'SNT Open Water Championships Trophies' are awarded as follows:
Historically, the Open Water Event has also awarded trophies to 1.2Km Male/Female Winners as well as the 5.0Km Female Winner, Carol Bolton Trophy and the 5.0 Km Male Winner, John Dove Trophy.
The Open Water Series also includes a Relay Teams Event each year which has proven to be 'VERY' competitive and the results are included.
