The official Bio Island Australian Junior Excellence results for the 2020-2021 season have landed!

Swimming Australia is delighted to unveil the results of the program’s 12,525 participants. This recognition acknowledges every stellar performance, encourages development and ultimately aims to inspire the next generation of competitive swimmers.

Delivered in conjunction with all states and territories, the national Bio Island Australian JX program – which awards gold, silver, bronze and blue standards based on times – continues to be one of the largest recognition programs in the sport.

With part of the season affected by COVID-19 in some states, each participant’s overall standard is based on every race they were able to swim throughout the 2020-2021 season – which officially concluded on 30 April 2021.

Congratulations to all the JXers!

Showcasing their dedication, passion and hard work, a total of 1,697 young guns around the country received the top gold standard for their quick times in the pool, while 2,633 achieved silver, 3,069 qualified for bronze and 5,126 scored blue.

Nearly 7,000 girls achieved a standard time in the program compared to the boys, who accounted for just over 5,500 results, while 13-year-olds had the highest level of participation (2,853), followed by 12-year-olds (2,813) and 11-year-olds (2,418).

Australian Dolphin and Bio Island Australian JX national ambassador, Jack McLoughlin, commended every young swimmer on their terrific results.

“Congratulations to every young swimmer who took part in the Bio Island Australian JX program this season,” McLoughlin said.

“No matter what standard you achieved, or whether you simply managed to record a new PB or improve your technique, the most important thing is that you tried your best and had fun learning new skills with your friends.

“Even though part of the season may have been affected by COVID-19 for some, I hope you all managed to enjoy your time in the water and stay connected to your club.

“Congratulations again!”

Bio Island Director, Amanda Fox, reiterated McLoughlin’s sentiments.

“During the past year, the team at Bio Island have been eagerly tracking the progress of those participating in the JX program and it gives me great pleasure to congratulate each of the JX athletes on their achievements in getting where you are today,” Fox said.

“We are so proud of your accomplishments and the passion, drive and determination you have shown to the sport, even after a year filled with long absences and time away from swimming.

“We hope moving forward that the Bio Island Australian Junior Excellence program offers you a way to reunite and achieve truly amazing things in the future.”

Merchandise will be distributed to clubs in August this year and Swimming Australia will notify your club once it is on its way. We hope you love your well-earned swim gear!
