Swimmer Profile - Flynn White

Swimming NT - 08/06/2018

This year we had a number of our young swimmers qualifying and competing in the Age Nationals. Over the next few weeks we will be looking at at few of our swimmers achievements and highlights. Our First Profile is from Flynn who has had an awesome swimming season qualifying for a number of events at Nationals and bringing home a Bronze for his efforts in the 400m.

Name: Flynn White

Age: 13

Club: Casuarina Storm, Darwin.

Coach: Igor Demin

Sporting Idol: Marco Reus, winger for Dortmund in the German Soccer League.

Pre- race rituals: Talking and joking with friends to calm the nerves.

Goals: Next season improve my times and go to nationals again in 2019 and medal in one or more events. Long term I would like to go all the way and represent Australia with friends from the Casuarina Storm Club.

Flynn had a great 2017-18 season, qualifying for Nationals in the 100, 200, 400, 800 free, 200 fly and the 4 X 50m medley relay and breaking four NT records along the way. Flynn then made the finals in the 200m, 400m and 800m free and picked up a bronze in the 400 free.

Qualifying for nationals is not easy, as any swimmer will tell you, but it is easier when there is a support team around you. The Casuarina support team at Nationals consisted of a team of six swimmers, Coach Igor Demin, invited Technical Official Paul Carter and a group of excited and supportive parents.
